All The News...

Knit News....
Haven't been knitting this week as much as I'd like. I did make a little bit of progress on the Koigu Oriental Coat...

Crochet News....
I added one of my "new" projects to the sidebar.... YES IT'S ACRYLIC! Red Heart even. Here's a pic of my Irish Garden Celtic Afghan:

5 squares done a million to go...

This is pretty neat crochet work... the motifs are woven together thru the loops to make Celtic looking knots. It's also reversible with a different look front and back. I'll take close ups soon.

Yard News
Even though we had a very dry winter my wildflowers are blooming like crazy this spring. Tons of purple flowers every where. And gorgeous orange Indian Paintbrush. I even found a flowering cactus today!

Dog News....
Saving the BEST for LAST... at the big dog show in Longmont Colorado this past weekend my 20 month old little girl Ilsa took Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for her third 4 point major! Only 3 more points and she has her championship!!!!

Doesn't she look like a future champion digging in my yard???

New WebSite FINALLY up!

It still has a long way to go.... but the NEW WhiteStar Samoyeds website is finally up. I hope to move over a lot of stuff from the old site over the next few weeks/months.

There are some missing pictures, hope to get those up in the next few days.

Eventually there will be more pictures of all the dogs, and the WhiteStar links page which was once the most complete on the web, will be updated for the first time in years.

The Coat

Several months ago I finished the Koigu Toreador Jacket. When I started it, I viewed it as a "process piece", something that would be enjoyable to knit but I was unsure of it's potential wearability. Once completed, I discovered I loved wearing it, it came out much better than expected, and garners compliments whenever I wear it. So of course the next logical step was to make the Oriental Coat, also by Koigu.

You can see a picture of the current state of the coat in the link in the sidebar to the left. It's so big at this point it's hard to get a good picture of the whole thing.

Below is a picture of the upper left shoulder, the part I'm presently working on. The color as shown in this picture is pretty true. Yes it's bright!

The first comment other people make about the knitting of one of these Koigu masterpieces is that they could never do it because they can't stand the thought of weaving in all those ends. If you weave as you go, it's no big deal. I do that, then evey day or so I go back, weave in any I missed, and then snip off all the tails. Here's a picture of the back...

I haven't touched this project for a few days... but taking the pictures this morning got me ready to work on it again!

Back From Cortez

Kelly, Ilsa and I spent the weekend in Cortez Colorado at a three day dog show. Unfortunately neither girl was a winner. Ilsa tried really hard, but she still looks so immature and Very Naked Kelly was there to hold the major and provide comic relief.

My friend Ginger finished the championship on her boy Rory yesterday, I'm glad I was there to see that. And Pumpkin's nephew Storm was Best Puppy in Show on Saturday!
