New Project

I call it: "pure white, white and biscuit, cream, or all biscuit"

Any idea why?

Oh My God! She Posted About Knitting!

Yes, it's true. A post with actual knitting content. A finished object even.

The Pomatomus socks are done, have been worn and are in the laundry basket. A new pair of socks is on the needles and I actually did a little knitting on the Jaywalkers this week. I even dog out a sock that I started 4 years ago in cotton yarn and never got past the heel on. The heel is now done and I'm decreasing down the instep.

Estes Park

Yesterday was the Estes Park Wool Market. Not as big as the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival but we in the Rockies do okay with our little fiber extravaganza. I picked up a Greensleeves Tom Foolery spindle. I've been wanting one for years and could never find one in woods I liked. Mine is Pink Ivory and Maple. I know, I should have taken a picture. I also bought a Dragon spindle from Tracy Eichem at Wooly Designs as well a basic, lightweight Comet.

In the yarn department I was quite restrained. One skein of the popular Opal Petticoat 1290, One skein of laceweight silk/yak, one skein of laceweight silk/angora, both form Skaska Designs. Two skeins of sport weight Limited Edition (wool/silk/tencel) form Brooks Farm Yarns.

And I bought an alpaca fleece from an alpaca named Angel whom I totally fell in love with. I couldn't buy her, so I bought her coat. She had not been sheared yet when I met her, that was supposed to happen this mrning. The shepherd (is that what they call alpaca owners?) will call me later this week with the total price and I will send money.

Gratuitous Puppy Picture

They are now five weeks old and starting to be lot of fun...

Oh Yeah....

The good folks at Blogger finally realized I'm not a spammer and lifted the restrictions off my blog. Someone told me it got flagged because I have so many links. Yeah, I do. I'm thinking it may be time for some house blog cleaning....

When is 50 Grams Not 50 Grams?

When it's 44 grams:

This is a brand new, untouched, "50 gram" skein of Koigu. I know the (lack of) humidity in the air here in Colorado can affect the weight of yarn, but by 6 grams??

Mine. All MINE.

Sky Watching

Knitting content will return soon. Really it will. In meantime some very cool sky pictures. We had a big storm just to the north of us last night and the sky got very interesting. Here is it looking southwest from my house.

And here is a shot at the same time looking northwest:

A few minutes later, again looking northwest. What a stange color the whole sky is!

The White Torpedo

Yes, there is knitting happening. The Pomatomus Socks are about 75% done. But it's so much more fun to take pictures of puppies than yarn.

Amazing Lace

So I see I already missed the first Amazing Lace Challenge. Can I blame it on the puppies again? And my crazy weekend schedule. At least that winds up this weekend with a show close to home in Colorado Springs.

Oh yeah back to the lace. I hope to put up my response to Challenge #1 later this week. Better Late than Never. And now I see Challenge 2 has already been posted. Better get on that I guess.

Gotta go look at puppies some more now.....

Spam?

Blogger has apparently decided this is potentially a "spam blog" and as such is requiring me to enter word verification to post to my own blog. I've followed the steps they gave me to get it taken of the "potential spam list" but from the reading I've done, that can sometimes take weeks, and in some cases people eventually get blocked out and can't post at all. So if I disappear for more than the ususal week or so, that's probably what has happened.
